In 2016, the Washington Post released the National Survey of Native Americans poll of an unusual sample of 504 Native American adults. This survey highlights the issues related to the professional football team in the Washington, D.C. metro area that calls itself the Washington Redskins. The study examines opinions regarding the Washington Redskins team name change, offensiveness of the team name, feelings about the word “redskin” as well as Native American imagery in sports.
