2012 NEP Exit Polls Now Available

Explore the newly acquired 2012 National Election Pool Election Day Exit Polls, available at the Roper Center. The collection features a national dataset as well as 31 state-level datasets. We would like thank ABC News, the Associated Press, CBS News, CNN, Fox News and NBC News for contributing this important collection to the Roper Center so that our scholarly research community may access these data now and into the future. The 2012 NEP Exit Polls give key insights into the decisions made by voters in the presidential, senatorial, and gubernatorial elections. When did voters make their final decisions on whom to vote for in the 2012 election? What qualities were most important in deciding their vote? Which presidential candidate could better handle Medicare? Do the candidate's policies favor the rich, the middle class, or the poor? The polls also give glimpses into the current state of social and economic issues in the United States. Should the 2010 Affordable Care Act be expanded or repealed? Should your state recognize same-sex marriage? What is the biggest economic problem facing people today? Should taxes be raised to cut the budget deficit? Several questions are state-specific, either about ballot initiatives or regionally relevant issues. Oregon and Colorado have questions about marijuana legalization, while Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin were asked about the auto industry. In states with highly contested Senate elections, there are questions about the ethical standards of candidates and how important the Senate majority was in the respondent's vote.
