Call for Applications: Summer 2026 Roper Center Student Scholar Programs

The Roper Center for Public Opinion Research at Cornell University is now accepting applications for its Summer 2026 Student Scholar Programs - two excellent opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience working for the world’s premier archives of public opinion data.
 
This year, the Center is pleased to offer two competitive scholar programs: 
 

W.E.B. Du Bois Scholar Program


Who Can Apply: Graduate students in the United States
 
Designed to support students committed to exploring issues of race and public opinion, this program provides in-depth training, mentorship from Roper Center researchers, and the opportunity to contribute to data-driven projects with real-world impact.  This opportunity provides a free one-year membership to the American Association for Public Opinion Research.
 

Kohut Research Scholar Program


Who Can Apply: Graduate and undergraduate students
 
Honoring Andrew Kohut’s legacy, this program offers students the chance to work closely with Roper’s research team and Board of Directors, apply data science and analytical skills, and support projects that advance the understanding of public opinion and survey research.
 

Application and Compensation Details

These competitive programs are ideal for students interested in public opinion, social science research, data analysis, or information science and archival work. Past student scholars have gone on to pursue graduate studies, research careers, nonprofit work, and policy roles.
 
We welcome applicants from a wide range of academic backgrounds and encourage early submissions.
