The Roper Center for Public Opinion Research is proud to announce the arrival of the Greenberg Papers — a major new collection of political polling that will offer researchers behind-the-scenes access to major election campaign polling strategy and data. Renowned pollster Stanley Greenberg, co-founder of Greenberg, Quinlan, Rosner Research and Democracy Corps, has generously contributed his personal papers, polling reports, and documents spanning more than three decades of his career.

Greenberg received his Ph.D. in political science from Harvard and taught at Yale for a decade before becoming a pollster and political consultant. Insights into the attitudes of the electorate elicited by his research for the 1992 Bill Clinton campaign brought him fame and acclaim and earned him the role of presidential adviser during Clinton’s first term.
Greenberg has worked for Democratic candidates at the state and national levels. He has also conducted polling in countries around the globe, including Mexico, UK, Israel, Venezuela, and South Africa. In 2010, Greenberg was inducted into the American Association of Political Consultants' "Hall of Fame."
The Collection

The Greenberg collection consists of two parts: personal papers and survey reports. Greenberg’s personal papers include memos, notes, and his daily diary during his time with the Clinton administration and digital documents from his work as advisor to the UK Labour Party. His collection of topline reports and banner books, including extensive crosstab tables, represents data from surveys he conducted in the U.S. and around the world, primarily for political clients. Former clients include Al Gore and Ehud Barak, amongst others.
Roper Center will be undertaking a full inventory of the collection and will publish a finding aid for researchers. Roper will also add toplines from the collection to the iPoll database over time.
