Explore the Most Important Problem Dataset with Laron Williams at the Roper Roundtable on May 7

February 10, 2025

On May 7th at 1:30 PM ET, the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research will host a Roper Roundtable featuring Laron Williams, Frederick A. Middlebush Chair of Political Science at the University of Missouri’s Truman School of Government and Public Affairs. Professor Williams will discuss the second release of the Most Important Problem Dataset (MIPD), a valuable resource for researchers analyzing public opinion on the nation's most pressing issues.

The MIPD is a merged dataset of 850 U.S. surveys that have asked respondents the question: “What is the most important problem facing the country?” Over time, normalizing and analyzing open-ended responses presents unique challenges. In this session, Professor Williams will share insights into these challenges, key findings from the dataset, and new possibilities for research using this extensive collection of public opinion data.

This event is open to anyone interested in public opinion, political science, and survey research. Registration is required to attend.
