Supporting Public Opinion Data Related to COVID-19

Roper Center is committed to supporting the research community through the COVID-19 pandemic. All of these efforts require substantial staff time and resources. We know these are challenging times, but we hope that you or your organization will consider becoming a supporting Roper Center Member. What we’re doing:

1. Priority Data Processing: We have allocated substantial staff time toward processing data related to COVID-19. In many cases, our turnaround time is now 24 to 48 hours.

 2. Archiving All Relevant Data: We are archiving survey data collected via traditional survey methods as well as more recently developed methods, such as non-probability samples. If you have data to archive, contact us today.

3. Easy Searching:

  • Questions related to COVID-19 are now part of our 2020 Election Topic Tracker, making it easy for people to see question frequency and registered users to quickly find relevant questions.
  • Users at institutions that have migrated to the new Roper iPoll can use two new Topic searches, “Coronavirus (COVID-19)” will return questions related to the current pandemic, and “Viral Outbreaks/Influenza” will return questions from historical surveys on topics related to emerging infectious disease outbreaks, including personal behaviors, quarantine, working from home, preparedness, and government ratings.

4. Promoting Access:

  • Any small, independent news organization can get complete access to Roper Center questions. Learn about this news media initiative here
  • To provide further access, we are also partnering with public libraries through our America’s Voice Project initiative. If you would like us to contact your public library about Roper access, please let our membership team know
  • Thank you to all participating organizations for sharing data for the benefit of the entire research community. We are making select, relevant datasets publicly available. For example, see:
